The Physical Cabinet houses a collection of scientific instruments from the 18th and 19th centuries. These instruments were used for research as well as for public demonstrations. They pertain to the following areas in particular: electricity, acoustics, light, magnetism, thermodynamics, and weights and measures.

Teyler's Museum is the only place in the world where such a collection is still on display in its original surroundings! The instruments are housed in the Oval Room and the Instrument Hall.
